José Menéndez (May 6, 1944 – August 20, 1989) was a Cuban-born American entertainment executive who wielded significant influence at RCA Records before becoming a top executive at Live Entertainment. Known for his intense control, ambition, and volatile temperament, he ruled his household with rigidity and intimidation. His killing on August 20, 1989, by his sons Lyle and Erik Menendez led to one of the most infamous criminal trials in U.S. history, during which allegations of long-term abuse fundamentally reshaped public perceptions of him.
