Karina Rivero

Karina is a composer, sound designer and music producer with a passion for storytelling. Through her narrative-driven work, Karina explores the universe of sounds to create music that resonates with her listeners. She has participated in numerous projects in North America and Europe, including feature films like Apapacho, Eagle Knight, Isle of Dolls, Aztech the Movie, Chateau Vato; multiple award-winning short films, advertising, podcasts, albums and singles. Her music is inspired by sonic palettes that include both the orchestral and the electronic realms, drawing from all kinds of sonic influences for her music – from Alexandre Desplat, to Arturo Márquez and Subtronics. Her mentors include Dr. Andy Hill, ex vice-president of music production at Disney; Conrad Pope, orchestrator for John Williams; and Rosino Serrano, a two-time Latin Grammy Nominee for best arrangement. Karina has received recognition for her work in competitions such as Score Live London, where she got the second runner-up award and the Music Cosmos Composer competition, where she was a finalist. In 2022, she was awarded a scholarship sponsored by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Academy Award winner for best score to study at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, where she formalized her studies in the film music art and craft. She was also a part of Berlinale Talents in its Guadalajara Campus in 2020.
