Dominik Zimmerle

Dominik Zimmerle is a German visual-effects supervisor at Trixter. He developed a passion for animation and visual storytelling from a young age, influenced by 2D animated films.

Zimmerle studied Communications Design at the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, combining traditional drawing and painting skills with interests in concept art and computer-generated imagery. After graduating, he entered an apprenticeship at Trixter in 2007. Over the following years, he advanced through roles such as compositing artist, matte painter, lead compositor and compositing supervisor — gradually acquiring the skills and experience that would lead him to become a full visual-effects supervisor.

As a VFX supervisor at Trixter, Zimmerle has overseen visual effects work on numerous high-profile films and series. Among his credits are Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), where Trixter helped build massive CG environments and complex sequences — including a devastated Grand Central Station — and managed the integration of animated characters alongside live-action. He supervised effects for Ant-Man (2016) and Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) as well.

In 2019, Zimmerle supervised the VFX for Captain Marvel. His team at Trixter was responsible for over 280 of the film's final shots — including massive spaceship and environment builds, complex photon-blast effects, and a CG creation of the alien cat character, Goose, which needed to match live-action footage of a real animal seamlessly. He later supervised effects on Shang‑Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and Black Widow (2021). He also served as VFX supervisor on The Marvels (2023) and Predator: Badlands (2025).

Outside his professional work, Zimmerle continues to nurture his artistic roots, enjoying photography and painting. He maintains his early love of drawing even while working at the cutting edge of cinematic visual effects.
