Penas Alternativas

The documentary seeks to reflect on the failure of the Brazilian prison system. Focusing on a Detention Center, a prison and an NGO in the state of São Paulo, the film covers lives that have followed different destinations. Based on the testimonies of individuals who were sentenced to the closed regime of incarceration and of those who carried out alternative sentences, more precisely the provision of services to the community, the documentary presents solutions for prison overcrowding and investigates the purposes of the prison sentence.
