Snorkmaiden is caught in a thunderstorm and seeks shelter under a lone tree. This turns out to be a serious mistake, as the tree is promptly struck by lightning. Snorkmaiden faints. When she wakes up, she suddenly has the ability to see into the future. Being able to see the future has certain advantages: after all, this gift saves Snufkin from a serious accident.
