El deporte se hace presente en Los puros criollos gracias al tejo, juego milenario practicado por los indígenas que habitaron lo que hoy es el municipio boyacense de Turmequé, quienes emulaban con el lanzamiento de discos de oro macizo el recorrido del sol sobre sus montañas. Aunque algunos creen que es una actividad para borrachos, muchos lo consideramos el deporte nacional, al ser Colombia su epicentro y por la creciente práctica que tiene en diferentes edades y regiones del país.
