Come Dine with Me

Amateur chefs compete against each other by hosting a dinner party for the other contestants. Each competitor then rates the host's performance with the winner winning a £1,000 cash prize. An element of comedy is added to the show through comedian Dave Lamb, who provides a dry and "bitingly sarcastic" narration.

First to host in County Durham and Wearside is personal trainer Eve Booth, who is concerned that her haggis and black pudding tower starter might not be to everyone's taste. Her guests are interior designer Paula Thompson, joker Ken Brown, outspoken debt collector Eleri Watson, and student Donal Anand Shaw, who Eve mistakenly calls 'Doughnut'. Despite the lukewarm reception for Eve's main course the bigger problem seems to be the poor quality of Ken's jokes...
